DevOps Engineer
Talis has been retained to recruit a fulltime DevOps Engineer for a privately held retailer that specializes in all aspects of tabletop gaming. This is an amazing opportunity and a huge success story. Founded in the late nineties in the owner’s garage, this company has risen from humble beginnings to now having a global web presence with 450+ employees & 150M rev.
In addition to record breaking online sales, they are also redefining the brick-and-mortar game store experience with a national expansion underway.
This is a 100% REMOTE friendly Seattle based role.
Role:
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our team and help manage our web infrastructure and application deployment. This position reports to the Director of IT. As a DevOps Engineer, you will help architect the future of our web infrastructure and lead our migration to a highly scalable cloud infrastructure. You will use your skills as both a systems engineer and software developer to help take our web infrastructure to the next level. Responsibilities:
- Design, build and manage web infrastructure using cloud technologies and infrastructure-as-code
- Configure and support a centralized build and deployment infrastructure.
- Mature the CI/CD pipeline to enable teams to scale in a self-service way to help reduce deployment cost and time.
- Automate the creation and configuration of application environments.
- Implement & Improve infrastructure and application monitoring, alerting, and logging systems.
- Perform code reviews and engineering discussions to drive the best ideas forward.
- Promote and use best practices with high attention towards security, stability, and scalability.
- Assist developers as needed with security guidance, infrastructure expertise and deployment support.
- Work with developers of all skill levels and help with everything from local development environments through application planning.
- Provide technical assistance to development teams to assist in the adoption and implementation of DevOps practices.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in a DevOps related position, or equivalent experience in application development and cloud Infrastructure.
- Hands on experience creating and maintaining scalable, distributed and secure web infrastructures using cloud services like AWS or GCP
- Experience with a configuration management software (Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with continuous integration, testing, and deployment (Jenkins, Github Actions, Circle CI)
- Understanding of application Containerization and Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with web application security and vulnerabilities
- Experience with Application and system monitoring tools (Nagios, PRTG, DataDog).
- Experience with database architecture, maintenance, and operation. (MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch)
- Strong knowledge with version control and git.
- A programming/scripting language (Python, Ruby, Bash, PHP).
- Experience with agile methodologies and frameworks
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure services are operational and highly available.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of fundamental network technologies (DNS, Load Balancing, SSL, TCP/IP, HTTP)
- An aptitude for new coding languages and technologies
- Understanding of modern PHP frameworks like Laravel a plus
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Understanding of ITIL terminology

- Exempt: Range from $130,000-$160,000 depending on qualifications and experience
