Azure Cloud Engineer

We are currently recruiting a full-time Cloud Engineer for a Seattle WA based leading provider of data analysis services that serves the Risk. Mgmt. Industry. Our client helps first responders and insurers work smarter by providing unbiased, accurate data and information to evaluate risk.

Backed by over 100 years’ experience this company has a rich history and strong tradition of serving both public and private sector markets. This position is 100% remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant Azure infrastructure solutions.
  • Work in a collaborative Agile department, and in addition to your strong individual contributions, you will provide advice and assistance to team members, as needed, to help in continually improving the cloud-related development and infrastructure.
  • Work closely with the Infrastructure Team on a day-to-day basis in supporting cloud infrastructure, and the Development Team and InfoSec Team as needed for software development and security efforts.
  • Enjoy collaborating with product, designers, and other engineers to solve complex technology and business problems.
  • Able to take business stories and work with your team to figure out what needs to be done to drive progress.
  • Motivated to develop cloud-native solutions with good design practices while finding opportunities to simplify and scale.
  • Manage the routine auding of cloud resource usage, such as cost-savings, security improvements, reliability, and new products.
  • Assist Development and Infrastructure Teams in the regular work to engineer, test, deploy and support complex, full-stack software applications.
  • Enthusiastic about design, observability, and building platforms.
  • Continuously engage in learning from the technology industry; incorporate emerging technology into your work.
  • Join planning discussions to contribute technological expertise and inform the needs of the business from a cloud architecture standpoint.
  • Identify situations where expertise outside the department is needed and help organize any third-party vendor assistance when necessary.
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure documentation is up-to-date and thorough, that work performed by the one team does not adversely affect other teams.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • 3+ years of cloud architecture and/or DevOps experience.
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and schema design.
  • 2+ years’ experience building and deploying cloud-scale products in a professional capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure services, networking, and security principles.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using PowerShell or other relevant tools.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like ARM templates.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies in Azure.
  • Experience with continuous delivery, automated deployments, and related engineering practices.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes/Containerization a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Compensation + benefits:

Base salary: $120K – $150K

22 days of PTO + 9 holidays + 2 floaters

Unused vacation can be rolled over each year.

401K match up to 6%

LOCATION: This position is 100% remote, based out of the Seattle, WA area. However, the engineering team does get together for a couple of days once or twice a quarter in person in the Seattle area. We are currently only considering applicants from the following states: WA, OR, AZ, CO, ID, MT, NM, UT, WY.
